Edwin Van der Sar was a great sweeper-keeper . When the back-pass law came into effect in 1992, many keepers struggled. Van der Sar wasn't one of them. His footwork and touch were developed when he was a young player at Ajax in Holland. This ability along with his steady handling and calm personality meant he was a keeper in demand. On leaving Amsterdam he joined Juventus, Fulham and finally Manchester United. He had a strong reputation.

Van der Sar always showed that he was a leader in the box. No matter what team he was playing in, he showed what it takes to be a great player. Is Van der Sar United's best ever goalkeeper?
