The key to being an attacking midfielder
Attacking midfielders link the play from defence to attack. They get the nickname 'Playmaker' as they spot passes and use the ball to create opportunities.

QUICK THINKING:Attacking midfielders have to move around tight spaces whilst being marked.
The role of the attacking midfielder is one of the hardest on the pitch . Players in this role will often find themselves between a strong back four and the midfield. They are constantly under pressure and need to have razor-sharp decision making, the ability to use both feet, and the vision to make a 'killer pass' that opens up a defence.
The players
Kevin De Bruyne has become an iconic player in the Premier League since he arrived at Manchester City. The Belgian magician can unlock the toughest of defences. His intelligence on the ball is what really stands out. 'KDB' has formed a deadly partnership with Sergio Aguero that has terrorised defences for the past decade.

An attacking midfielder may also be called upon to get a goal if the strikers cannot breakdown the opposition. There are not many better than Paolo Dybal a when it comes to striking the ball into the back of the net. Dybala may not have the vision of Silva, but he makes up for it with power strikes off his left foot to win Juventus matches.

Dennis Bergkamp made this extremely difficult role look easy. He looked so natural and composed on the ball, and his passing ability and movement allowed him to slide through defences. Bergkamp provided assist after assist for the likes of Henry and Pires during his time at Arsenal.
